This Playshop brings together two magical forms of body/mind improvement. Blending the joyous/meditative fun of hula and the art of yoga into a two-hour playful, light-hearted session.
This eccentric activity mostly focuses on using the hoop for balance, self adjustment and to intensify stretching by holding it at certain angles around the body. We will be combining a few basic stretches with the hoop as support and using the spinning movement of the hoop as way to dive deeper into the meditative focus (dharana). In this fused “playshop,” a hoop becomes a tool for a stronger physical and mental asana practice, and yoga becomes a tool for greater control and balance in hooping. We’ll start with hoop incorporated asana to warm our muscles and connect with our breath, and hoop tricks to release fears and connect with our inner child.
This “playshop” is limited to a small number of participants to create an intimate environment with personal attention, and is open to all levels of students. Bring a sense of humor, a light heart and playful attitude and come play with your fellow yogis. Play with intention.
Who should register: Anyone with a playful heart & spirit.
Bring: Hula Hoops (if possible), yoga mat, a sense of humor and a light heart!
